iPad 3 that refuse to charge, or charge very slowly – like non-charging iPhones – are a sadly common cause of irritation among Apple customers. Before long the battery will be empty and you’ll be stuck with the world’s most expensive chopping board.
This isn’t a problem that’s unique to Apple products, in fact: for various reasons the charging port and cable are almost always a weak point on tablets and smartphones.
The first step in diagnosing any charging problem is to find out what device is causing the issue. To start, try using alternative USB adapters and cables, and if possible, try using the genuine Apple charger that came with your iPad. It should be noted that when plugged in to a desktop computer or a laptop, your iPad does not charge if you are actively using it – look for the text “not charging” right beside the battery icon in the upper right portion of your screen. In this situation, your iPad only charges when your Apple device is idle, or when the screen is turned off.
Reasons of Problems
Charging connector’s pins might be damaged, corrosive or dusty.
Charger is out of order or is not original. Battery might be faulty or copy.
Battery terminals might be corrosive or damaged.
To fix the problem, you may first ensure that the wall charger you are using is properly working and the battery is not totally drained. Continue by checking the charging pin connector or DC jack connector, visually check it for possible damaged. Clean the PCB board charging pads and battery connector. If the problem still occurs proceed to components troubleshooting.
If the procedures above doesn’t solved the charging problem, the possible faulty is the power IC. Rework or replace if necessary.
